Geometry
Welcome! I am looking forward to teaching and working with you this year to ensure your success in Geometry.
You wil find that some topics may be easy and others extremely chal enging. It is important that in my class, no
matter how chal enging Geometry can become, you DO NOT GIVE UP! You may not get it the first time or
perhaps the second, but YOU WILL GET IT!
Objective: This course is designed to for students who have completed Algebra I. The study of geometry
includes experiences and activities that relate to the value of geometry in life. Emphasis is placed on the use of
reasoning skil s, and two and three-dimensional modeling to solve problems, both mathematical and real-
world.
Materials: In this class, you will need the following –
Pencils/Erasers
Colored Pencils
Ruler Protractor Compass Calculator (scientific, Texas Instruments preferred; cell phone calculators are not acceptable ) Notebook Textbook (can be left at home unless otherwise instructed)
*Staples is currently sel ing a 10 piece math set by Staedtler for $3.00 that includes a ruler, protractor, compass
and other tools that are very useful in geometry. I recommend getting this set, if possible.
Classroom Expectations:
1. BE IN CLASS ON TIME AND BE PREPARED.
2. WHEN I AM OR ANYONE ELSE IS SPEAKING, YOU ARE ATTENTIVELY SPEAKING.
3. BE RESPECTFUL.

How to Succeed in my Class:
I am 100% committed to your success in my class. I will do everything I can as a teacher to make sure you learn;
however, YOU also must be committed to doing everything YOU can as a student to make sure you succeed.
First, and foremost, you need to BE IN CLASS and BE HERE ON TIME. . Second, you MUST come to class PREPARED
(Bring your required materials every day). Third, you must actively PARTICIPATE. This includes taking notes, asking
and answering questions and working during the time that is given. Finally, it is important to your learning that
we maintain a positive and safe learning environment in my classroom and therefore, it is important that you BE
RESPECTFUL.
This means being respectful towards me, your peers, AND environment (the physical classroom and
materials in it).

Attendance:
Your attendance is essential to your success. It is important that you be present and on time. You must be in
class, in your seat, ready to work when the bell rings. If you are tardy, you wil owe me detention time for every
minute you are late. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the work that you missed and turn it in
promptly. You can refer to my website, ask another student in your period or you may email me for the work. If
you need help with the work, I wil be more than happy to set up a time to help you.

Assignments (Classwork and Homework)
All classwork is due the same day it is assigned. However, I understand that you may need more time on certain
classwork assignments more than others, so I wil accept classwork no later than the beginning of class the next
day. As for homework, it is ALWAYS due the day after it is assigned at the beginning of the class period. Al
assignments wil be posted on the school and class websites daily.
Note: YOU MUST ALWAYS SHOW WORK TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR ANY ASSIGNMENT. YOU WILL FIND THAT THERE
WILL BE QUESTIONS THAT REQUIRE VERBAL ANSWERS AND I EXPECT YOUR RESPONSES TO BE IN COMPLETE
SENTENCES. NO WORK = NO CREDIT.
Assessments
You wil be informed of an upcoming test or quiz at least one week in advance and wil be reminded daily until
the day of the test. Test dates will also be posted online. If you are absent the day of a test/quiz, you must
schedule a time to take the test/quiz within two days of your return. If you are absent the day before a
test/quiz, you wil stil have to take it with the rest of the class. If you know you wil be absent on the day of a
test/quiz, you may arrange to take it the day before.
*You wil be given the opportunity to make up problems you miss on a test. Details of that process wil be given
when it comes time for you to take your first quiz.
Technology
All electronics – cell phones, IPADs, iPODs, and any other technology – must be off and out of site. There wil be
times that I wil give you permission to use your technology to solve math problems. Using it al other times when
I have not given you permission is disrespectful to me, your learning, and the learning of your peers. It is also a
violation of the CA education code and there wil be consequences. Parents should not be texting you during
class. If you have an emergency, you may ask to leave class, go to the office and use a phone.
Bathroom Passes
You wil be al owed one bathroom pass per week. While it may sound like a big limitation, you have 5 other
classes in which you have the opportunity to use the bathroom as well as your lunch time. Bathroom passes wil
not be given in the first 10 minutes of and the last 10 minutes of class. By leaving class to go to the bathroom,
you are losing valuable learning time, therefore, use your pass wisely.
